"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you
read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you are wonderful. And don't forget
to make some art, write or draw, or build or sing, or just live as only you can.
And somewhere in the next year, I hope you surprise yourself."
Neil Gaiman

Braiden's Blanket

yellow sun, blue sky, white clouds, green grass.

Choosing colors for this blanket was so easy.
We are outside from omgitissoearly thirty until I am dragging him inside for a bath.

He loves to ride his coupe car, chase bubbles, run, try to sneak over to Annie and Jerre's when he thinks I am not looking, pick flowers, see how close to the road he can get without actually touching it, walk Princess, climb the rocks, try to climb the trees (almost, but not quite!)
turn the water on 100 times, play in the sand.

He is all boy!  Earthy, cool colors.  It is who he is.

I worked this on a size 2.75  needle.  I only did a chain one in each corner, so it is really a tightly hooked blanket. I love working on granny squares.  It feels like they practically make themselves. I used  Lucy's join-as-you-go method.

Should be nice and warm and snuggly for my favorite little man!

81 squares, 21 rows for the border.

Gratitude Sunday

Sunday's heartfelt tradition...a time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful

The spring-time weather over the last week.

Homemade Christmas gifts and finishing them up almost a week early.  That never happens!!

A funny text from my daughter...just because she knows I love to laugh.

An after work get together that lasted way longer than it was supposed to.  So.Much.Fun.  I love my friends.

A nineteen year old who isjust as excited about Christmas as when he was 10!

We have been slowly downsizing Christmas, focusing more on family and togetherness...and this year it feels just right.

Trying a new recipe that was so good, they have already asked me to make it again.'

A whole week off!!  I plan on filling it with family, love and togetherness!  A very good week indeed.

Chloe's Blanket

I asked my rainbow lovin', sunset chasin', bug catchin', twirling princess
what her favorite colors were and she said all of them.
So all of them it is!  83 rippley row of color!

I love the easy crochet ripple pattern. Nothing complicated.  Nothing to fancy.
My blankets tend to be used for tent making and wrestling with the dogs
(I'm looking at you Bray!)

I love how this turned out.  Fits a twin bed perfectly with plenty left over on the sides to wrap herself up in.  She is a terrible baby to sleep with. She is moving and tossing and turning all.night.long!!

I still think that the border is the best part.  Halfway through, I always feel like I am making it too big, putting too many rows on.  But I can't help myself!!  I love a good, thick border.  I love the way it frames the work perfectly!

I know that she won't appreciate it now...but I hope some of these blankets survive and one day
(a long, long time from now) she is wrapping up her babies and remembering how much
her Nene  loves her!!

And as always...I think this may be my favorite one!

Gratitude Sunday

Joining in with Taryn for Gratitude Sunday...a time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful...

Cold rainy weekends that we all cuddle up on the couch and watch old movies.

Early morning walks, breathing in the frosty air.

Appreciating the bare branches against gray skies.

Planning our Christmas Day menu....the final countdown has begun!

Watching her craft her mini Christmas Trees

Feeling healthy and strong...something that I have always taken for granted.  For the first time in over a year, I am not taking any medication!  I will always be grateful for the time I was sick...I learned to slow down and enjoy just being still.

Not getting what I asked for, but getting exactly what I needed.

Gratitude Sunday (on Monday!)

Joining in with Taryn
Sunday's heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful.
A list of gratitudes.

Laughing until we cry!!

Poinsettia's and colored Christmas lights

Waking up to frost

Getting teary-eyed watching our 5 year old ballerina.  Looking over at him and seeing his eyes filled with tears, too...we adore this little girl.

Warm wooly socks

A ruptured eardrum that left me open to kindness from friends...dinner was provided, son was picked up...all with one phone call

Cold, clear, starry nights

Coffee

New yarn
