A Little Bit of Everything

Mother Nature is behaving a little strangely this year...

We had our first frost in October and

mid-November we are having warm fall breezes

that feel more like spring. 

 I am not complaining. 

 I am totally enjoying her crazy ways...

for I know very soon winter will be here. 

 Coats and scarves and hats are already hanging up

ready to be used.

Is anyone participating in the CAL over at Lucy's? 

I saw her first post and remembered that I had a whole stash of "fall" yarn left over from my Nanny McPhee blanket. 

 I pulled out every half used skein I had. Decided which ones would stay and which ones would have to wait for another project. 

I shortened the starting chain to 150 and got started. 

Such an easy pattern and so far I am loving the results.

A few of my favorite shades:  Woodland Heather, Sage,

Pumpkin, Persimmon, Maize, Chocolate

While I was pulling out my stash I found this
garland I had made last year. 
Ends all sewn in and everything. 
 The only thing left to do was block and string them up. 
 I think they were made using the Maybelle pattern. 
 On the last row, I did a sc, hdc, 2dc, hdc, sc to get more of a pointed edge instead of the rounded edge.

also found a Mandala from last year.  I think I actually made a few more, but I have no idea where they are. 
Maybe wadded up in a bag isn't the best way to store my crochet.
I have got to do a better job keeping my seasonal things together!
 

I was off yesterday and took the opportunity to go and visit Alex.  He is only 48 minutes away but it feels so much longer. 

 

 

He is adjusting well and has already made new friends .

He is experiencing so many new things. 

Everything we wanted.

But I still miss him so, so much!

We walked around the campus, had lunch and chatted for a while.  Too soon it was time for me to leave.  He was going to the movies with some friends and I needed to get home before it got too late.

 

The drive home was gorgeous!  Such an amazing sunset!

Maybe the truth is, it shouldn't be so easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It's the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something's difficult to come by, you'll do that much more to make sure it's even harder  -  if not impossible  -  to lose.
